Writing Games: Describing – Something You Can Write With
Quick! Find something you can write with! Maybe it’s a pen, a pencil, a crayon, the computer keyboard, or something else.
Now look at the object you have found, and describe it. Think about: Is it long or short? Thick or thin? Pointed or dull? What color is it? Does it have special features, like an eraser, a cap or a label? Now think about how you use it. Do you hold it in your hand, or use your fingers? Is it used for signing checks, practicing handwriting, or coloring a picture? Who does it belong to? How often is it used? Make your description as detailed as you can.

It’s called a pen. It’s black. It’s got a cap with a little holder. Its color is black. It’s got a little blue stripe at the top with a darker black bottom. It’s got some words, it says “Uni Ball red dot Deluxe Micro.” Its little clip-on is silver-looking. It’s got some words on it, they say “San Fransisco” a little circle with an R, “Uni-Ball,” it’s a silver-blackish-pen. It writes blue. It belongs to the family. We keep it in this little glass pen holder that we’ve been using for years which my sister is able to get into now, she is two years old. It’s used for writing – that’s obvious. Nobody uses it the most, we use it about the same because we always use it together. I’d say it’s about half a foot long. It’s thinnish, not as thick as a Sharpie. It is hard. It is old. It’s smooth. The caps sticks on the bottom. It’s a darker black on the inside. It’s got a blue line around a little cone-shape and then it’s the part that actually draws. That part is silver. That’s all I can think to say about that.
