Playdough Extravaganza Day
First, thanks to all of you who have continued to leave comments, send emails or deliver pokes on Facebook. As each day passes, our grief lessens. We will have a hard time of it when we head up to Piseco for the summer, but for now we are returning to some kind of normal.
And for my kids, normal includes being spoiled rotten by grandparents. Before Pappy and Nita left for South Africa this spring, they brought a big pile of boxes and bags filled with surprises to be opened whenever we needed one. Today, we opened a huge and heavy cardboard box… and found inside playdough, playdough, playdough tools, and more playdough!
You can see, though, that BabyGirl was really more interested in the box of crackers at first!
The box included two of those 50-color sets, one of the “3 Pounds of Playdough” canisters, two rolling pin/stamp/cutter sets, two bowls of Sand Dough, and a very cool Word World dough set – you can see it there, it came in a yellow basket. The Word World set had six kinds of fruit-scented dough and six molds to make the appropriate fruits – Word World style, of course, where the letters of the word form the object itself. There was also a playmat that looks like the stand at a farmer’s market, with areas to spread out your newly made fruit.
Of course I went to the basement and brought out some of our older playdough sets that haven’t been used much lately, including Scooby Doo, Star Wars and Bob the Builder molds as well as a whole bin of food-related gizmos. I also brought up the board game Grape Escape, which has a Mousetrap-like contraption poised to squish your playdough playing pieces. The kids had a fantastic time of it, playing with playdough for over two hours. What fun!

In an unrelated note: Emily, I told you that if you kept crying I’d put a picture on my blog! Here it is, and NO, we can’t play in the stream!

Creative Playthings furniture = incredibly farsighted investment, or what?
