PisecoDad’s younger brother, Chris, passed away early this morning.
I wrote the first details about his motorcycle accident here. The accident was around 7 pm on Sunday the 19th. He spent the week in the ICU while doctors tried to help heal his body. He was under sedation the entire week; he did have a conscious [...]

So, this was a very chaotic and stressful week. PisecoDad’s brother is still in the hospital, he has been on dialysis this weekend because his kidney function was poor; today the doctors almost had to defibrillate him because he was having arrhythmia. The doctors believe he has Brugada syndrome and may need to implant a [...]

This morning – on our way out of town to the hospital – we joined several other homeschooling families for a very nice tour of our local printing press, which publishes 3 regional newspapers as well as other items and commercial jobs.
Here is a photo of a model of the press, which is only about [...]

Another day waiting & worrying. Chris’s kidneys are not functioning well enough, so instead of the spinal surgery, tomorrow he’s headed to dialysis. He is still sedated… and putting off the surgery pushes off the time we can finally talk with him.
BabyGirl stayed at Paula’s while I took JediBoy to karate today. That was our [...]

Just checking in here at the blog because I know some folks check here and not Facebook.
Chris is stable. Surgery is planned for Friday. Homeschooling this week involves long discussions about prosthetics, motorcycles, hospitals and germs. JediBoy is partway through Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter #4) and has also been reading lots of his usual [...]

Thanks for all the good thoughts here & on Facebook.
Tonight, no news is good news. Chris had a surgery this morning to put in a femur rod; the doctors need to do one more big surgery before waking him up. He is stable, but still in ICU.
PisecoDad came home this afternoon, slept for a bit, [...]

PisecoDad’s younger brother, Chris, was in a motorcycle accident around 7 pm last night. He’d gone to the Legion, and then over to a friend’s house. The friend asked if he wanted to take the friend’s newly repaired motorcycle out for a spin. He did, and somehow skidded, slid, or otherwise lost control of the [...]

PisecoDad’s brother was in a terrible motorcycle accident tonight.
PisecoDad and Jer have left to drive up and see him – since their parents are 16 hours away by car.
Send good thoughts his way… the EMTs said he may lose a leg below the knee.

Another long day for me… can you believe I left the house two days in a row?
Crazy.
BabyGirl is looking through laundry baskets, trying to find socks. She spots one and holds it up, calling out, “Here it is, sock!” I call back to her, “Good! You have one sock. How many do you need?” BabyGirl [...]

Well, I did it.
I drove again, for the first time in almost 4 weeks, since my DVT. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be – sitting up tall in the driver’s seat pinched the femoral artery and then having to switch between the gas and brake pedals and use pressure on [...]
