Muffin Tin Monday: No Theme

This week there’s no theme for the Muffin Tin Monday meal.  We do love the themes, and I think that having an unusual theme helps encourage me to fill the tin with new items, and the kids to try them!  However, today’s no-theme tin is a chance to share the way I fill the tins when I’m making them on a typical day.  We had…

apple slices, Cheddar cheese slices, wheat crackers, sunflower seeds, turkey slices and peanuts.

I usually include meat, cheese and nuts because when my kids serve themselves they tend to get carbs – cereal, crackers, pretzels, goldfish – and not as much protein.

We also like to have smoothies at breakfast or lunch – today it was breakfast, so they weren’t in the picture with the lunch tin.  I let the kids pick between “Hulk Shakes” (fresh spinach, frozen blueberries, bananas, orange juice and flax oil) or “Human Torch Shakes” (fresh carrots, frozen strawberries, bananas, orange juice and flax oil).  Yes, JediBoy is a Marvel fan, how did you know?
