Learning Notes: November 3-9, 2008
I feel like our learning times are in a time of transition this month. This week, we finished something major (a math level) and found a new, fun workbook to replace his beloved Classic Stories book. We also picked up a used copy of the BBC’s Spanish course, Muzzy, and started watching that.
If you’re interested, you can find my summary of the week’s learning notes behind the cut.
Math
- Math-U-See Beta, Lessons 29 and 30: Reading Gauges and Thermometers, Bar Graphs and Line Graphs; watching the dvd, doing several practice problems and the test for each lesson. He finished Beta!
- a variety of worksheets from a new book – Flash Kids G&T Grade 3 Reading, Writing & Math – focusing on number sense, rounding, and a computation puzzle – he enjoys these sheets as they are illustrated, in color & presented as fun puzzles

Science
- This week, science slipped through the cracks a bit – except that we did talk about the aerodynamics of a basketball, the process of turning iron ore into chain mail, and enjoyed a day-long study of animals and their behavior at the zoo – you know, the daily-life science we all learn & love.
Language Arts
- a variety of worksheets from his new book – Flash Kids G&T Grade 3 Reading, Writing & Math – focusing on synonyms, antonyms, and words with more than one meaning; nouns, verbs, adjectives and compete sentences – he enjoys these sheets as they are illustrated, in color & presented as fun puzzles; he liked illustrating antonyms and doing a mini Mad Lib

Hey there. I was stopping over to follow up and see if you received the stacked Halloween bow that I sent you as part of the giveaway I did last month.
I meant to follow up sooner, but forgot. I was looking through my blog posts and noticed the one where I posted you as the winner and that reminded me!
Please let me know!
