Another Good Knight

JediBoy could just as easily be called KnightBoy because he continues to be fascinated with knights and castles. Do you remember his bliss in July, when we got to see a reenactor speak at our library? Last night we went out to see the same knight speak again.

Nov 03 with William the Defender

William the Defender spoke with the same depth of information and humor as he did the last time we saw him. I won’t repeat it here, but if you’re interested, I tried to cover at least a little of what we learned in my post from July.  PisecoDad was seeing him for the first time, and especially liked his dry wit and breadth of knowledge.

JediBoy loved seeing the weapons, and the armor, and trying on the helmets. BabyGirl enjoyed people watching and playing with the boy about her age three seats down.  The presentation lasted for two hours, and again there were several questions put to the audience that only JediBoy was able to answer.  When the talk ended, JediBoy waited in line to ask the knight if he remembered him from the library this summer, and the knight told him, “Of course I do, and I’m still impressed!”

The event was put on by a local Christian homeschooling group which was nice enough to open the talk to any area homeschoolers. While we were there, several announcements were made about all the projects, programs and events they have going on, and it made me wonder whether they have a “statement of faith” you must sign before joining. If they don’t, I’d seriously think about joining them.  They made a good audience and have so many interesting opportunities.  Hmm.

When we moved in, back when Em was small, I inquired and was informed that LEAH had a statement of faith requirement. I wish they were inclusive because, you’re right, they have an outstanding group and the amount they have to offer is impressive. I’d love to join, too, but can’t ethically sign a statement of faith that I don’t really mean.

Same here. It is so sad there is such a divide.

Do you ever get up into Massachusetts?

In Worchester is an amazing Armory Museum (at least 20 some years ago when I used to live there). It’s well worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood.
