Oh goodness. This week really slipped away from us. I was recovering from my terrible cold at the beginning of the week, just as JediBoy was coming down with it. Not only that, but we spent Sunday and Monday rearranging furniture and wound up unplugging the computer that has the functional printer. As a result, I didn’t have my daily checklists this week, so even after JediBoy was feeling more himself on Thursday or Friday, we didn’t get into our groove.
This is the first week I’ve had a hard time putting something together for our learning notes (because I didn’t have anything written down), but you can see what I managed, behind the cut.
Math
- Math-U-See Beta, Lessons 23 and 24: dvd segments, parts of the student pages, and tests. JediBoy decided this week that he prefers word problems to straight computation, so we only did the word problems from the student pages in these two lessons.
History
- listened to the SOTW audio cds 1 and 2 (chapters 1-12) a few times
Science
- continued to explore basic electricity - with batteries and bulbs - tested items with his conduction tester, asked questions about electricity
- talked about the leaves and weather changing
Language Arts
- read, and read, and read - stories on cd (mostly the William Steig collection and some Jim Weiss), me reading aloud (many things to BabyGirl that JediBoy listened to, also some of Bambi by Felix Salten), and JediBoy reading to himself, lots and lots.
Spanish
- listened to Boca Beth cd
Misc.
- had karate on Tuesday and Thursday, and basketball and soccer on Saturday (missed basketball practice on Wednesday because of his cough)
- played with Aidan and Conor on Saturday - at soccer, then to Friendly’s, then to their house
- made lots of drawings and paintings in his newly reorganized art studio
- JediBoy made English muffin pizzas on Friday for lunch, then again on Saturday
- watched lots of PBS Kids, especially Word Girl, Super Why and Sid the Science Kid
- talked a lot about different kinds of illnesses and the transmission of germs
- played with his Legos and his knights
- celebrated having BabyGirl with us one year (Oct. 14) and the day she’d been in the US one year (Oct. 18) and the day she’d been home one year (Oct. 19) - talked a lot about the adoption process and what’s happened to us this year
- looked at lots of old pictures of both kids
