Karate Kid

I’m still recovering.

JediBoy had his first karate class today - at the local Y. I could tell it was a dream come true for him, and we were both thrilled with the small class size. But when he and PisecoDad went out after dinner to buy his gi, and he put it on, and he just looked so grown-up, I couldn’t stand it.

I couldn’t even get out the camera, I was so stunned. Here’s one quick snap from his first, gi-less class.

Now I’m thinking I’d like a small, card-reading digital camcorder. We have a bulky cassette camcorder, and my old digital camera took video, but its battery doesn’t hold charge very well anymore. I’d like one of the new little ones I could slip in my bag and sneak some video of him in class. Any particular recommendations?

Wow, they let you take pictures. That’s a HUGE no-no at the actual dojo. Em may do YMCA instead of the actual dojo when we come back in spring.

I know, these moments are so fulfilling, watching our kids grow up and into things, but at the same time they make us want to have a few magic moments back…sitting and rocking them as babies, holding a sleeping little child…if only there were a pause and rewind button- but no fast forward, ever.

I have a FlipCam and I LOVE it. It’s the size of a regular camera and easy to use. Not too expensive, relatively speaking.

Well, congrats, kiddo: now you’re officially raising Me 2.0.
