Giant Guatemalan Katydid

I’m not sure if last night’s visitor hitched a ride in with our bag from the nature amble or if it scooted in the open door with us, but as we were heading up for bed we heard a clicking sound in the living room, and soon zeroed in on our bright green guest.

The person on the tapestry looks positively terrified by the Giant Katydid! Clearly even wielding a giant stick is no proof against these oversized freaks of nature.

So true! I love the doctored photos you’ve created, PisecoSis- they’ve given me a much-needed giggle yesterday and today.

Clicking in the living room- PisecoMom, are we two of the only moms whose hearts leap with glee when we hear a sound like that? Yesterday, Dr. N told me he thought a baby bat had flown into his house the night before, and I searched with great anticipation and longing, but alas, even he admitted it might have been his 88-year-old middle-of-the-night eyes playing tricks. *sigh*
