Unplug Your Kids: Fireworks in the Sky
I decided to post my Unplug Your Kids: Sky project early this week in case any of you are looking for a fun Fourth of July project.
JediBoy is excited for the Fourth of July this year, because he’s looking forward to the fireworks. We’ve done several things to encourage his interest, including making our fireworks-watching pillows, looking at fireworks online, reading books about the Fourth of July and making these:
Super-simple and totally fun. I picked up a package of round plastic kitchen scrubbers at the store this week. We poured red, white and blue paint onto paper plates and used the scrubbers to stamp the paint onto black paper.
BabyGirl enjoyed stamping, flinging, smushing, squeezing, but not so much tasting. Paint’s a little bitter.
JediBoy had a wonderful time making these pictures, including layering the paint, mixing the paint to add purple and pink to the fireworks, and experimenting with the different look he could get from using a lot or just a little paint.
Easy as fingerpainting, as fun as stamping, and it produces cool fireworks pictures like these. Try it!

Looks like such a blast! Also less likely to cause a shortage of oxygen to the brain than my fireworks painting project. LOL

Great idea! Thank you for your creativity! I am going to do this for a lesson on the Chinese New Year and would have never thought of using a pot scrubber!
