Rice Krispie Sushi

JediBoy and I had planned to fool PisecoDad with a backwards dinner last night, and the rice krispie sushi were to be our main course. I think I originally saw this idea in a Family Fun magazine. We just cooked up a batch of rice krispies (1/2 cup butter, 4 c. mini marshmallows, 5 c. rice krispies) on the stove and then spread them into a jelly roll pan. We lined up gummi worms along the short end, rolled them into the rice krispies to make a log, and then cut the log off from the rest of the krispies. The batch made 4 logs. Here are 3 logs rolled and 1 in progress:

Then we cut each log into sections about 1″ wide and wrapped the sections in the only greenish, narrow fruit leather I could find - Yogos. Here is our marvelous after-dinner dinner:

They were a fantastic project, because other than cutting them into 1″ rolls, which required a sharp knife to get through the gummi worms, JediBoy could help with all the other steps. If I had a real sushi platter it would have made a more dramatic impact, but we had to make do with a cutting board of sushi because tonight’s sushi was the first PisecoDad ever dared taste!
