Weblog

Although I love reading today’s blogs - stories of people’s lives, a peek into other homes, especially blogs about homeschooling and/or international adoption - I do sometimes miss the time when a blog was still a weblog - a list of the places its author had visited on the web and found interesting.  We were out Way.  Too.  Late.  last night playing games at Leigh’s (Ruse and Bruise, Stonehenge, Colosseum) and I don’t have the energy to post something content-heavy this afternoon, so here’s your peek into where I’m spending my computer time; ten sites I’ve visited this week.

For my surrealist moments - Garfield Minus Garfield describes itself this way: “Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life?”

Adding to a list of websites with tv content (including Fox On Demand, ABC.com and CBS.com), is the public launch of Hulu, where you can choose from various tv shows and movies, including the first season of Buffy and the first (and only) season of Firefly, Heroes and House, Knight Rider and Buck Rogers, and many more.

While you’re pondering tv choices old and new, check out the Tommy Westphall multiverse - a giant chart of how 282 tv shows are connected by spin-offs, guest stars, name-dropping and other plot devices.

Or, if you’re studying the selection of movies, take a look at the movie posters for 30 movies that should never be made.  My game-loving boys laughed particularly loud at #s 14 and 4.

I entertained myself on Pi Day (3.14) by reading Poe, E. Near a Raven.

We signed up for The Hunt for Bees - a project to try and help solve the bee puzzle (where are they going?) by planting a few sunflowers near your house and twice a month recording how long it takes for 5 bees to visit your flowers.

We’re also thinking about planting some tomatoes in hanging baskets this year.

Looking for fun things to do this week - we’ve been listening to the fun and funny Celtic stylings Brobdingnagian Bards a lot this week.  (Whedon fans should check out track #17.)

After celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Monday, we’ll put our minds to Easter for the rest of the week, and try our hand at concocting faux Cadbury Eggs, or maybe marshmallow chicks.

Where has the web found you this week?
