No, we’re not tapping our maples, though it is that month. We’re celebrating the sugar holidays of St. Patrick’s Day (with green cupcakes) and Easter (with plastic eggs full of jelly beans, of course!)
On Friday we went to Leigh’s house and made green cupcakes.
JediBoy, Em and Nate frosting cupcakes.
The Food Lady provided BabyGirl with her own frosted cupcake.
It was good!
The kids liked the green and brown frosting… but Em was the most talented frosting-licker!
The last batch of cupcakes came out looking like
MAGICAL TURTLES!
Our secret recipe: add green food coloring to plain cupcakes.
Bake as directed on the box, but use a tilted oven.
Enlist five children to jump up and down in the kitchen while cupcakes are baking.
Voila! Turtle cupcakes. We couldn’t reproduce them if we tried!
This morning, we went to our town’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. The kids are split by age group and collect empty eggs - a bag full of empty eggs is traded in for a goody bag with candy and small toys. We hadn’t planned to meet anyone there, but besides the usual assortment of former teammates and neighbors, we also saw four of our families of friends! It was a nice treat.

They’ve been friends since the summer they were born.
Enjoying the goody bags - BabyGirl is in love with jelly beans!
