Mish Mash

Friday night we went to Leigh & Dave’s for a birthday party for PisecoDad. We had a grand time eating yummy food and playing games - Settlers and Colosseum. The kids ran and played until they were completely exhausted, and JediBoy wanted to go back on Saturday.

Saturday’s weather was a dreary mix of snow and freezing rain. It wasn’t the bad storm that was predicted, but the weather combined with the three new Wii games (birthday presents from friends) made us decide to spend Saturday tucked in at home, reading, playing the Wii, and playing board games - mostly Blokus.

On Sunday afternoon we went over to Teresa & Mark’s to help them fill a dumpster and then to play N.Y. Chase while JediBoy watched a movie and played with the babies. Teresa had caught the virus Colin had earlier in the week, so we hope she’s feeling better soon - and that the virus didn’t come home with us!

Today, we’ve been hit by the vengeful paycheck-bonus-gods, as PisecoDad’s car died on the way in to work (it was “the belt” - apparently Cavaliers have but one) and when the garage took a look at it, they found several other soon-to-be-problems including a small hole starting in the muffler, a weak motor mount, and a wearing bearing. Did the universe know we’d had an extra-big paycheck last week? The repairs to the car will wind up being significantly more than the amount of the extra money.

Since PisecoDad needed to take the van to get in to work mid-morning, I’ve been amusing myself by checking to see where some of you bloggy visitors come from, and what links got you here. The best so far was a visitor today who Googled “Jabba the Hutt out of Perler Beads.” That amused me so much that I have half a mind to drag out the Perler Beads during BabyGirl’s nap and try to make a Jabba the Hutt myself. It may interest you to know that this fine blog is one of only six Google hits for the phrase “Jabba the Hutt out of Perler Beads.”

I’ve also been posing the children - I really need to hit some white sales and get a few good solid-color bedsheets for backdrops, since all of our sheets have patterns. For today, I posed them in front of our Guatemalan wall hanging and got several lovely variations of this:
