We had another wonderful day. After a late brunch at IHOP and a little Wii playing, PisecoDad headed back to work and the kids and I headed over to Leigh’s to play. One of the things we had planned to do on Valentine’s Day was to decorate containers for all the kids’ various Pokemon figures. One family after another got sick in February, though, and this was the first time we’ve all been together since then.
We had stickers, markers, paint pens, glitter glue and foam letters to decorate the white metal buckets from Michael’s. JediBoy and the girls were more interested in decorating than the older two boys were, so there were about 7 of us around the table most of the time.
We laughed and talked and stuck stickers. We found that the foamies stickers and the paint pens worked the best, Crayola markers not at all, and glitter glue if you were patient. [ETA: Okay, the glitter glue - not so much! I forgot about the age-old craft project of making a glue design on a slick surface, letting it dry, then peeling it off… this morning JediBoy noticed his glitter glue pokeball was warping, and when he poked it it all peeled off, in one beautiful piece but no longer attached to the bucket!] These are nice little metal buckets with lids and handles, inexpensive enough that we could get a whole bunch if the kids wanted several to keep different sorts of toys and treasures in, and they’re pretty sturdy. Here’s one of the finished products…
The kids then roamed all about the house and yard, most often pulling Paula along with them. By about 4 they were tired and settling down on the couch - all six kids together! It was a sweet afternoon.
