PisecoDad is 32 today, and celebrating just the way he wished. We found out a few weeks ago that he would be getting about $800 extra in one paycheck, to cover his retroactive raise from last year - and when we sat down and worked out the date, we realized that his back pay would arrive on his birthday! It was too perfect. We planned to set aside half of the extra money to buy the very present he’s been lusting after: a Nintendo Wii. (Yes, it’s only $250, but have you seen the prices of games and extra controllers? WOW! So we figured we’d burn through the other $150 like lightning.)
He did have to go in to the office this morning, but we spent the afternoon setting up the Wii and playing Wii Sports. He’s excited not only to have the latest console but also to have finally found a video game that I will play with him! I have never enjoyed the traditional video games - mostly because they make my hands and wrists ache. I enjoy the large motor control of the wii-mote, though, and I think we’ll be playing together a lot.
I don’t have any pictures to add to the great online collections of people-in-funny-poses-playing-the-Wii yet because the room we have our tv, and now Wii, in is so small that the two people playing can barely fit in, never mind the photographer with her zoom lens! I’ll try to figure out a good angle soon, though.
In other news, today is a bad day to be a pillowcase in the PisecoHouse. JediBoy woke up this morning with blood all over his hands, arms, face, and pillow - he’d had a bloody nose during the night but hadn’t woken up. Later, BabyGirl got herself coughing so hard after her morning nap (we think she picked up a cold on our road trip last Sunday) that she threw up all over the cosleeper, blankets, and pillow. The other pillowcases are quaking with fear.
