Visiting Cousins

We did it! We took our first major day trip with BabyGirl along. We drove the 2 hours and 20 minutes from our house to Grandma & Grandpa’s, visited there for about six hours, and made our way home again. We all survived!

The drive up was surprisingly easy. Even though we left home at 9:30, BabyGirl fell asleep almost immediately and slept until after 11 while the rest of us listened to our Dr. Seuss cds (Fox in Socks and Yertle the Turtle, If I Ran the Zoo and The Cat in the Hat Songbook) to celebrate his birthday. After she woke up she was content to ride along and listen too.

The visit was very nice. BabyGirl met several of PisecoDad’s cousins for the first time, and she loved them as much as they loved her. She was flirting and smiling and making eyes at them, and they all wanted to squeeze her chubby little cheeks. JediBoy had fun too - first playing with his 7 year old cousin G., then drawing pictures with the markers and paper G. brought him, then playing in the snow with Uncle C. We had a great time and JediBoy did not want to come back home.

The drive home was fine too - though BabyGirl slept more restlessly, and eventually we decided it was because the lights of the cars behind us were shining in her eyes. But JediBoy fell asleep quickly and deeply and woke up about half an hour before we got home. We are very hopeful that the good traveling bodes well for many trips up to camp this summer!
