That’s the question from JediBoy tonight. He’s been “playing George Washington” and reciting dialogue from Liberty’s Kids all afternoon and evening.
He asked me if we have a telescope. I wasn’t really thinking of why he’d want to know, so I told him of course we do. He said, “Great!” and wanted it right away. Well… we have an Astroscan telescope, and what he really wanted was a spyglass like George Washington had. So it wasn’t what he wanted, and I wasn’t about to let him go traipsing around the backyard with it!
So he had to make do with a paper towel tube for today, but he really wants a functional spyglass.
Next, of course, he wants a costume of sorts. I’m not really thinking of buying him an actual George Washington Costume, though I know they’re out there…
I suppose I’ll be looking at thrift stores and rummage sales to see if I can find something suitable. I think really he just needs a coat that looks vaguely Revolutionary Era. Maybe a wig or a three-corner hat.
