Thanks to yesterday’s book swap, JediBoy and I did a lot of reading today! I read most of the pile to him but he was thrilled to be able to read two new books to me - a JumpStart reader and a TMNT reader. We snuggled on the couch for a few hours, reading back and forth to each other. Then he watched a DVD of Liberty’s Kids, which he’s been very interested in this week. He’s excited by the fact that the events, and at least some of the characters, are real.
We spent the afternoon feeding Paula’s pets and then he played with Legos while I tried to resort the baby’s clothes again. We’d sorted them this summer based on bringing her home in August, and recently did a small sort-in of clothes we’d acquired over the summer, but today I was trying to repack her suitcase with 12-month clothes with many layers. It’s surprisingly hard to pack for a baby you don’t know. Does she spit up a lot? Does she have lots of leaky diapers? Does she hate having things go over her head? Will she kick off shoes if they’re not cinched tight? There are so many things I don’t know. So I’m trying to cover all the bases and still stay under the weight limit for the luggage!
We spent the evening at the parent center, where they had a hot dog dinner. JediBoy was taken a bit aback that none of his regular friends were there, and at first kept asking me what he should do or who he could play with. He did warm up and then spent the last hour happily playing - first trains, then doctor, then chef - with five-year-old W. who we met for the first time two weeks ago at the center. On our way home, he said, “I made a new friend today! What a lucky day.”
I came home and found more funky art staring at me from my Google Reader - HT to GoodyBlog for finding Pinata Boy. He makes pinatas like this…
