Wacky Knits & Swapping Books

You must know by now that I have unusual taste in art. Over the past two days alone I’ve posted a caricature and some gum art. Well, I love unusual fiber art too. That is…

Knit Daleks by Penwiper Unlimited. They’re just too much! (HT: PisecoSis)

We had a good day today - a homeschooling playgroup that we were able to take Leigh and company to, where the group brought books for a big book swap, and the leftovers will be taken to the cooperative extension for their book recycling drive and big giveaway next weekend. I did very well - I left the house with a U-Haul book box and a paper bag both full of books and came home with a pile maybe three inches high, including a hardcover anthology of Paul Galdone fairy tales and a nearly-new hardback copy of Lindsay Barrett George’s Around the Pond: Who’s Been Here? (We already had In the Snow: Who’s Been Here? and love it.)

We dashed home from there to prepare for JediBoy’s soccer team pictures tonight, and PisecoDad had to drive straight to the mechanic after that because he’d been having trouble with his brakes. Don’t quote me on this, but there was something majorly wrong with the thingamadiddle on the interior lining of the whatsis, and now the whole hooha has to be replaced, plus two tires which were interestingly fine on the outer edge and bald on the inner edge. To the tune of $$a little more than the amount of money I’d saved or otherwise planned to spend on my new fancy-o camera$$. Sniffle. Sniffle.

But I’ll be fine, because there are people in this world who knit Daleks. Life is still good.

Ah, yes, the car is always ready to use up all your stashed money, isn’t it? I just got a flat tire this last weekend, and now I learn that it can’t be repaired, and the tires have to match, so I need 4 new tires - they’re only 2 years old! Urgh. No new garden shed for me now.

John and I watch the new Dr Who, do you?
Email me the details of the book thing, we might go since we’ll be right there for hockey on Sun. I guess the family day was totally canceled? I was hoping it would be rescheduled this Sun.
