I can go days without wanting to log into LibraryThing, to add books or look for books. I find it’s especially helpful in remembering what books we have upstairs. But now it’s been down for a couple of days, just when I have a shelf full of books I wish I could add!
JediBoy is so excited about animals. Last night at the bookstore, we bought him the big DK Eyewitness book called Animal Kingdom and today he wanted to read about moles - then he asked me to find him a mole in the yard! We did go outside and hunt but didn’t find any molehills or tunnels. I have been going through some books we’d had stored in the basement, and others scattered about the house (that’s more literal than you may imagine) to collect the non-fiction animal ones into one location. I brought them into a newly emptied shelf in the office, and today have more than 100. With ISBN numbers waiting to go into LibraryThing… who are working on their problems.
We also spent a long time today watching Planet Earth clips. Today his favorite was the one about birds of paradise. Watch it all the way through - his favorite mating dance is the one at the end. He also loved the flat lizards from South Africa, and asked me to immediately email his Pappy and ask him to bring one home. That prompted a gentle but firm discussion of customs regulations…
One last soccer practice this evening, and I hear my boys playing “Go Fish” - with a cool deck of actual fish cards - in the living room now, just before bed. Life is good.
ETA: Just after publishing this I checked again, and they’re starting to come back up! Hooray. I was able to quickly add 90 of the 100 books on my list, and I’ll leave the rest for tomorrow.
