What a good day. Not least because I only had to read one Magic Tree House book!

We went over to a friend’s house this morning and took a short drive together from there to an alpaca farm. JediBoy and his two friends were thrilled by the alpacas, Nigerian dwarf goats, and several types of chickens, including the Anconas (not Anacondas). There were also four farm dogs. The farm’s owner was very welcoming and didn’t mind our boys “herding” the alpacas or overfeeding the goats with fistfuls of grass. She told us a lot about how she got started with alpacas and what it was like to keep them. We bought farm fresh eggs from her and she said that we’re welcome to come back anytime, even if she’s not home. (She showed us how to latch and unlatch the pasture gate!) We were there a little over an hour and had a marvelous time.

Afterwards, we went back to our friends’ house to have lunch, play and chat. They recently were given a soft serve ice cream maker so we got to make our own chocolate ice cream too.

We left earlier than usual (around 3) so that if JediBoy fell asleep on the half hour ride home (which he did), it wouldn’t interfere with soccer practice at 5:30. Last week he was still feeling pretty low from the allergic reactions from our Memorial Day weekend, so he only participated a tiny bit. Today he was feeling much better and was enthusiastic about playing with his team for most of the hour.

After practice, we stayed at the park for a picnic dinner and then played at the playground. We came home and JediBoy helped PisecoDad change the bulbs in both brakelights of my van, then slowly got ready for bed.
This was on the heels of a good day yesterday too, which we spent mostly at RedLink’s house (after reading two Magic Tree House books), playing video games, eating pizza and having swordfights. Then PisecoDad took JediBoy to the playground for an hour and a half just after dinner, which rounded that day out well too. It’s been a great week.
