In other news… We went to the local children’s hands-on museum today with lots of our friends, which was great (JediBoy especially likes the real fire truck the kids can climb in) except that we had to leave after just over an hour to make it on time to pick up PisecoDad and go to our tandem eye appointments. Then JediBoy had an asthma/allergy check-up appointment, we stopped for lunch and Barnes and Noble, then came home to dust and vacuum a bit because we’re having company overnight.
Coming home from such a busy day, JediBoy asked… “Can we do math?” I swear by all that is unschooly that I am NOT pushing this child! When we sat at his desk, what he actually wanted to do was read his readers to me as if we were at story time, commenting on the illustrations and showing the book around the room. (His favorite thing is that when “Mat sat on Sam” in book 1, Sam frowned. But when “Mat sat on Sam” in book 2, Sam had a much more pained expression. Had Mat gained weight? Sat down with more force?)
We had a lovely dinner out with PisecoDad’s cousin (the infamous Uncle J who was prodding JediBoy to multiply at dinner last week) and Aunt B (Uncle J’s mom), who is in town to help Uncle J move to a new apartment and is spending the night at our house. JediBoy loved the attention and was sad that they returned to the apartment to spend another hour or two packing before Aunt B comes over for the night. Tomorrow includes a soccer game, moving Uncle J, and going to a baby shower.
